Tourist visa (L) application requires round trip flight reservations to be provided. It can be simply an invoice showing the booking information, or a confirmation of the booked flights. Tourist visa validity can be 10 years long, but the duration of stay is limited to 60 days or less.
Short Term Family visit (Q2/S2) application requires an invitation letter and ID information to be provided. If the family member is working/residing in China with a valid resident permit, the applicant can be qualified to stay in between 90,120, or 180 days(each entry). If the family member is a Chinese national, the applicant can be qualified for a 10 years multiple entry visa with 180 day’s stay.
Long term family reunion visa (Q1/S1) application requires applicant to provide original documents(marriage/birth certificate) that proves the relationship between both parties. Q1/S1 visa allows the applicant to reside in China for more than 180 days. Immediate registration with the local PSB may be necessary to exchange for a resident permit.
An invitation letter from a friend(Chinese national/foreign residing in China) is not qualified for a longer stay(60 days+) visa.
